Express delivery is £4.00 on orders over £40, otherwise £7.95 (please order before 11.00am for delivery next working day - UK only)
Will my cutlery set come in a giftbox or canteen? There is normally a picture of the relevant giftbox or canteen alongside the product information. Some cutlery sets are supplied loose/ in bulk and this is clearly specified. An empty canteen is available to buy online here.
Where can I see a product before I buy? Please see the Our Shops page for a list of our factory outlet centres and House of Fraser stockists throughout the UK, or contact customer services with your specific enquiry. Stock availability in stores may vary. If you feel the product you have puchased from Viners.co.uk does not match the description or image, we will arrange a collection and refund at no cost to you.
Can you supply to non-UK addresses? Yes, we can now ship to the following countries: Republic of Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg. I can’t see my cutlery style listed – is it still available? There are over 40 cutlery styles listed on Viners.co.uk in the cutlery and clearance cutlery sections of this website. Please email customers services if you can’t find your style. If you don’t know the name of the pattern, send us a photo or a description and we will do our best to identify it. Please note, "Parish" is the name given to a collection of classic Viners cutlery styles, and "Westbury" is the name of our most popular cutlery canteen storage box, available with various cutlery styles.
I have lost / broken a saucepan lid/ mug from my dinner set? Can I buy a replacement? Because of the sheer number of different products we sell we regret we don’t generally sell the components individually. However, we may be able to offer a discount on a full replacement.
My cutlery has been supplied with sticky labels on each item. What's the best way to remove these? The labels are needed to identify all the various cutlery items during manufacture and warehousing. If these don't peel off easily, or wash off in soapy water, we would recommend using a lubricant or oil such as WD40.
I have an old Viners cutlery set. How can I find out how much it's worth? We would recommend asking an antiques dealer. Viners can only provide valuations on products in our current range.
What pieces are in a standard cutlery set?
Most Viners cutlery sets provide 6 place settings:
a 24 piece cutlery set contains 6 knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 dessert spoons and 6 teaspoons
a 44 piece cutlery set is a more formal configuration, also containing dessert knives, dessert forks, soup spoons (6 of each) and 2 tablespoons. This provides cutlery for three courses (soup, main meal and dessert). Alternatively, the dessert knives and forks could be used for starters or for a cheese course.

What is stainless steel?
Stainless steel is basic “mild” steel, to which chrome and nickel have been added; chrome for rust-resistance and nickel for resistance to acids. The highest quality stainless steel is 18/10 stainless steel, denoting 18% chrome and 10% nickel content. 18/10 stainless steel is brighter and whiter in colour than 13/0 stainless steel, which is is quite grey in colour.
Steel is a ferrous metal and so will stick to a magnet depending on the iron content: 13/0 steel contains only 13% chrome (and therefore more iron) and will stick strongly, whereas top quality 18/10 stainless steel will attract much less strongly.
The Viners cutlery ranges are made from either 18/10 stainless steel (18% chrome, 10% nickel) or 18/0 (18% chrome) stainless steel.
Is stainless steel dishwasher safe?
Stainless steel can never be completely dishwasher safe, as over time the detergents and salts in the dishwasher will affect the surface of any type of cutlery. However, if a little care is taken while using the dishwasher, your stainless steel products will last for many years and you will experience no problems. For this reason, we describe most of our cutlery and kitchen ranges as Dishwasher Safe.
We recommend that you always keep the salt topped up (although not overfilled) to keep the water softener working properly, and that you use a good-quality detergent and rinse aid. Never use the rinse and hold option on your machine when washing stainless steel, as a wet enclosed environment can damage the surface of the steel and start the corrosion process. We also suggest that you take out cutlery as soon as the programme is completed, when it is still warm, and wipe off any water residue before putting away. This will prevent water stains from marking the surface.
Does stainless steel ever rust?
Stainless steel can corrode, although the additives chrome and nickel provide a lot of protection compared to “mild” steel. Stainless steel can be damaged if exposed to salts (which can be present in foods, water softeners and even naturally in water), acids or detergents.
For these reasons, we advise that cutlery is washed promptly after use, and is never left to soak for long periods in soapy water.
